Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression (M.I.L.D) procedure
The mild procedure is a safe, new therapeutic option developed to help reduce pain and increase mobility for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS) patients. The image-guided procedure is performed using specialized mild devices and a local anesthetic with conscious sedation.
Trained, qualified physicians use the mild procedure to restore space in the spinal canal while maintaining structural stability by locating and removing only those portions of tissue and bone that compress the spinal nerves and cause pain. The procedure generally takes only about an hour to perform, requires no sutures, only a minimal entry point (about the diameter of a pencil), and leaves no significant scar.
Most patients are able to return home the same day. Unlike major surgery, patients generally return to their typical routine within a few days. Rehabilitation following the mild treatment is also usually much faster and easier than that of open surgical procedures.
